Low hydraulic fluid level stops the pump from exerting the correct pressure, thus lowering the power assist. Loss of steering ease can result in a turn in either direction, particularly at low speed or idling conditions. A buzzing noise during a turn often denotes low fluid level. Topping off the reservoir solves this problem.
If you are constantly replenishing your power steering fluid, have your power steering input shaft seal looked at and replaced by a mechanic. 2. Difficulty steering. Since the fluid may be low, the power steering may not respond appropriately. This can manifest itself as difficulty turning corners, or the vehicle does not handle like it used to.
Turn ON the engine. Turn the steering multiple times to its limits. Turn off the engine. Locate the steering fluid reservoir under the hood. Check the fluid level using the dipstick. Check the condition of steering fluid. Add the fluid if required. Close the fluid reservoir.
Use a pump from an empty shampoo bottle (or some bottle like that) instead of throwing the bottle away. Clean the pump well and stick the straw part into the reservoir and pump out all the old power steering fluid. Lay down some shirts or something like that because power steering fluid, if it drips on a painted surface, can ruin that paint.
